How did you meet? Met through mutual friends at a gathering/night out of fellow Clarkston Schools teachers/friends at The Union in downtown Clarkston in September 2009

Engagement story: Literally the day of picking up the ring, (because he decided he couldn’t wait) Aaron drove over to Jennifer’s parents (saying he needed to borrow some tools from her Dad). He asked her dad’s blessing. Her mom was there too. It was a very happy moment.

Jennifer thought Aaron, who as an assistant principal in Lake Orion at the time, had to stay late for a band concert. After he got home, the two went to downtown Clarkston and parked the car at Depot Park. After dinner at The Union Woodshop, another place they spent time together on the first night they met, Aaron walked Jennifer down the stone steps by the music conservatory. The night they met, Aaron walked Jennifer to her car down these steps, and the two realized they were holding hands as they walked and that they quickly had feeling for one another. In this same place, Aaron got on one knee and proposed. They spent the rest of the night calling/texting friends and family with the news and pictures of the ring.

The next day, Jennifer got to spend her last day of the school year teaching math at Sashabaw Middle in Clarkston, sharing the good news with her fellow staff and excited students (especially a group of 7th grade girls that had already planned her wedding for her!). She was the star of the day at school.

Around this time, Aaron and Jennifer accepted an offer to lead the creation of a new international school in northeast China. Aaron would be the director/principal and Jennifer would teach math. They resigned their positions here and packed up their lives to travel to the other side of the world together.
