How Did You Meet?: After chatting briefly in school and on Facebook very casually we both discovered we were going to be in Vegas at the same time for spring break. Jared made sure to contact me when I arrived at my hotel. He would not take “no” for an answer, and insisted upon my mother and I joining him for a drink. When we met up in the lobby Jared’s friend Steve immediately went into “wingman” mode and talked the night away with my mom while the four of us walked the strip and explored Vegas into the wee hours. It wasn’t until the next day before the boys left did Jared muster the courage to ask me out on a date.
Engagement Story?: I took Kara to The Whitney in Detroit, a beautiful old mansion, once owned by David Whitney, a lumber baron in the late 1800s, that is now a restaurant. I told Kara that we were going because I had a groupon, and she totally bought it. We were seated in the music room, which was decorated with hand carved molding, a mural on the ceiling, and gorgeous tapestries. We enjoyed a perfect 3 course dinner, that could not have went better. After dinner I persuaded Kara to check out the rest of the house and come upstairs. When we arrived on the second landing between the second and third floors, I popped the question in front of a pair of original tiffany windows and, believe it or not, SHE SAID YES! When we returned downstairs the maitre de was waiting for us with champagne and flowers that my parents had sent. The night went off without a hitch, and could not have been better.
