Our engagement was a dream come true, plus a few bonus features beyond what our dreams knew were possible! It was the day after Rachael’s birthday (she thought the whole weekend was simply to celebrate her 25th) that we found ourselves in Chicago at the Westin Hotel, paid in full by a generous friend! We started at 4:30 am heading out into the farmlands for a sunrise hot air balloon ride; a dream Rachael had been gawking at since we began dating. It was beautiful, beyond anything we anticipated. After debriefing some of our favorite visual experiences to date, we arrived back at the Westin Hotel where Rachael was surprised by her two best friends, and finally realized it was the day of her long awaited proposal. The four of us headed into town, soon to be connected with her brother as well, to shop in downtown Chicago for a dress worthy of the day’s significance. Let me tell you, we sure found the perfect one! Next we traveled to the beautiful Buckingham Fountain where Andrew shared, for the first time in his life to a girl, that he was madly in love with Rachael. Never having kissed, we then snuck ourselves onto the top of a skyscraper, and with the beautiful Chicago skyline for a view, we had our first! The next stop was dinner at Trump Towers famous Sixteen restaurant; which earned each and every one of its five stars for service, food and atmosphere! Lastly, we found ourselves at a private viewing of night time Chicago from the top of the Sears Tower skydeck! There, remembering all the reasons why we feel the Lord has called us to be together, Andrew got down on one knee and asked Rachael to marry him. She said yes!
